Brazilian journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe, citing five anonymous sources, revealed the release date of the Nintendo Switch 2 hybrid console. The next-generation gaming device will go on sale in the first quarter of 2025.
This was reported by Video Games Chronicle. Later, other sources confirmed information about the first quarter of 2025 to the publication.
It should be noted that Nintendo is also currently working on games for Switch 2, which will be released simultaneously with the console. It was previously reported that the device would be released in 2024, but, according to one of the sources, the delay is due to Nintendo’s desire to prepare more powerful software for the console.
As Bloomberg clarifies, the company advised game publishers not to expect the Switch 2 to launch before March 2025.
Last month, in a conversation with VGC, Serkan Toto, CEO of consulting firm Kantan Games, predicted that the price of Nintendo’s new console would be $400, $100 more than the launch price of the first Switch. The specialist also suggested that games for Switch 2 could cost around $70, similar to games for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
