Retailer Magnit appointed Konstantin Izmailov, previously chief data officer of Yandex Shop, to the position of general director of Magnit Market (a marketplace created on the basis of the acquired KazanExpress).
KazanExpress founder and former CEO Linar Khusnullin has decided to leave the company and develop his own projects, Magnit said in a statement.
The new CEO will be involved in the formation and implementation of Magnit Market’s strategy, “creating a compelling value proposition”, developing the site’s infrastructure and adapting it to Magnit’s geography.
In addition, the new top manager will have to build an “effective business” in the market and create synergy with Magnit’s core business. Under his leadership, the integration of KazanExpress and the rebranding of this site to Magnit Market will continue.
Before joining Magnit, Izmailov worked as Chief Data Officer (CDO) of Yandex Stores, and before that he held a similar position at Delivery Club, where, in particular, he was responsible for business integration with the Yandex Food service.
At Magnit, Izmailov will report to Güvanç Dönmez, the retail chain’s e-commerce director.
- Magnit purchased KazanExpress in November 2023 and began integrating this platform to launch its own Magnit Market on its basis.
- The day before, Magnit started registering new sellers on Magnit Market. Since mid-2022, due to lack of warehouse space, seller registration has been suspended.
