We’re talking about the technology’s ability to detect fake videos created on OpenAI’s recently introduced Sora neural network.

Gemini 1.5 was able to analyze artificially generated videos and detect significant inconsistencies in them.

Google’s breakthrough deconstructed a snowy street scene featuring cherry blossoms in Sora, Japan, and revealed inconsistencies that cast doubt on the video’s authenticity.

The analysis showed a discrepancy regarding the time of year: cherries bloom against the background of snowfall, but in reality they bloom in spring, when there is no more snow. Additionally, the regular and unnatural pattern of snowfall and the characters’ lack of winter clothing also raised suspicions among Google’s artificial intelligence.

Gemini concluded its analysis of 1.5 by saying: “The video is visually appealing, but inconsistencies suggest it is unoriginal.”
