The Moscow Exchange will exclude Qiwi PLC’s global depositary receipts (GDR) from its stock indices. The document will be removed from settlement databases on February 27, according to a message from the trading platform.
Since January 29, 2024, Qiwi RDAs have been transferred to the third level of listing on the exchange. On February 21, the Central Bank of Russia revoked Qiwi Bank’s banking license. After this, the price of receipts fell by 50%, to 240.5 rubles.
The Central Bank explained the revocation by saying that the bank violated federal laws and did not comply with the regulator’s requirements. This was the first time a banking license has been revoked since August 2022.
Top-up of your Qiwi wallet became unavailable, the payment system also blocked the withdrawal of funds, and service terminals in Moscow stopped accepting payments. Qiwi Bank announced the closure of its offices in the capital, St. Petersburg and Kazan. A temporary administration has now been introduced into the organization.
RB.RU talked about what to do if you have a deposit in Qiwi Bank and funds in a Qiwi wallet, to whom and when the money will be returned, and what to do if you have problems paying for services.
