Telegram experienced a technical problem, according to data from Downradar. Chats do not load and messages are not sent.
According to the Downdetector resource from Brandanalytics, problems are also observed on YouTube, VKontakte, WhatsApp, Rostelecom, Megafon, MTS, Viber, Tele2 and Beeline.
The majority of Telegram users (54%) complain about a “general failure.” The greatest disruptions are observed in Moscow, Izhevsk and St. Petersburg.
Users encounter problems on both the desktop and mobile versions. Some also report problems with YouTube and other resources. Some messaging users who reported failures also complained about incorrect work of home Internet from VimpelCom, Rostelecom and Z-Telecom.
Brandanalytics Downdetector recorded problems with Telegram, YouTube, VKontakte, WhatsApp, Rostelecom, Megafon, MTS, Viber, Tele2 and Beeline.
The VimpelCom press service informed RB.RU that “the Beeline network (mobile and landline) works normally, problems in the operation of popular messengers and applications are on the side of these services.”
Megafon reported that they indeed recorded a decrease in traffic volume on Telegram and several other services. “The problem is not related to the Megafon network, which continues to function normally,” added the company representative.
“Tele2 networks operate normally, the problem is not on our side,” the company said.
The editorial office also sent a request to Rostelecom, MTS and VKontakte.
Updated at 14:01 Moscow time: “The Telegram messaging service and other services in Russia are already being restored,” the Ministry of Digital Development reported. The agency, together with Roskomnadzor, is working “to establish the cause of the incident.”
