They emphasize the importance of “genuine competition, including alternative app stores and third-party downloads” for a healthy digital market. Apple’s current proposals contradict this, they say, “erecting new barriers and strengthening its power.”
The letter comes amid a $500 million fine imposed by the EU on Apple for its anti-competitive practices.
Apple claims that Spotify’s complaints stem from a desire for “unlimited access to Apple tools at no cost in exchange for the value Apple provides.”
