In the coming days, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of the Russian Federation will receive the right to conduct inspections of companies in the IT sector, including aggregators and marketplaces. This is reported by Interfax, referring to the head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, Maxim Shaskolsky.

The head of the antitrust department said that amendments to government decree No. 448 of March 24, 2022 (regulating inspections of IT companies) are ready.
According to Shaskolsky, the FAS has recently been actively discussing the issue of aggregators. “Here our powers were slightly limited due to Resolution 448. My colleagues and I have done our work and we have come to the conclusion that it is time to remove antitrust control from this resolution; this will be done literally in the next few days,” he said.
FAS intends to eliminate remaining violations by monopolistic companies in this area.
The head of the FAS also referred to the problem of regulating taxi aggregators, noting that there are controversial issues related to the blocking of consumers and drivers, the procedure for establishing remuneration, the application of coefficients for payment of services , etc.
“We also have Yandex Taxi, for example, in the registry, we cannot consult them either, but now we can. And there are a lot of complaints about it, the company really occupies a dominant position,” Shaskolsky said.
In November 2023, the FAS recognized Yandex Taxi as the dominant service in the markets of the vast majority of Russian regions. The service then announced it might take antitrust action.
