YouTube has made a change to the way its homepage works for browsers. Who will try access the platform’s website without logging into a Google account You will now see a blank screen with no content suggested by the algorithm.

This is a big change from the service’s previous interface. If you visited the site as a guest or even in an anonymous tab, the page would be filled with clips from a wide variety of genres and creators Nominated by YouTube itself.

“How about a survey to get started? Watch videos to help us create a content flow that’s right for you,” the window says. Check out the screenshot below.

You also won’t see any content when you try to access other sections like Subscriptions, History, and You. However, when it comes to short videos in Shorts format, the platform recommends new clips, as this is how it normally works.

Additionally, all buttons in the “Discover” area (such as “Trending”, “Live” and “News”) are accessible as normal.

When you log in with your Google account, the page returns to normal and recommendations are displayed based on your history and personal taste.

The change may relate to privacy laws

According to website beeping computerSome users had already had access to the feature for at least a month when it began testing with some groups.

There are also reports that YouTube also shows this screen if you delete your YouTube history for both searched and watched clips. One possible explanation is Compliance of the video site with European data protection legislationbut with a global application.

The interface change applies to YouTube in browsers.

A. Digital Markets Law (or DMA in its original abbreviation) came into force on March 7 this year and includes, among other things: Emphasize data sharing across major platform services Like YouTube.

This could also be a recent experiment by the company, which frequently adds and removes functions to the interface itself. That’s also the case with Picture-in-Picture mode for free YouTube users or watching simultaneous live streams on TV.

But until today Google has not officially commented About this change on YouTube.
