Samsung has exclusively released round smartwatches since switching to Wear OS in 2021. But the brand’s history also knows other shapes: the first Galaxy Gear and Gear Live were square.

But starting with the Gear S2, Samsung has made a clear bet on round design. And now, according to SamMobile, the company is considering returning to the squares.

The fact that internal discussions are being carried out “with enthusiasm” shows the seriousness of the intention, but a final decision has not been made yet.

Nothing is known yet about the release date of the square watch. They could arrive as part of the Galaxy Watch 7 series as early as this year, but other leaks about the series don’t mention such big changes.
