The decision will come into force “the day after its publication”, that is, March 14.
Reuters sources reported on the EU’s plans to lift sanctions on Volozh in February. According to them, this should have happened after March 15.
- Volozh was placed on the EU sanctions list on June 3, 2022, as part of the sixth sanctions package for “promotion of state media” in pursuit of “Yandex” and indirect financing of the Russian government.
- After this, the founder of Yandex decided to resign from the position of head of the group and from leadership positions in international subsidiaries, and also left the board of directors.
- In December it emerged that Arkady Volozh was trying to get EU sanctions lifted by the courts. Lawyer William July said Volozh no longer has legal control over Yandex.
