Yandex Market began using a new model of warehouse robot, Roboruka, in its Superwarehouse (Sofyino-2). It should speed up work processes, improve the quality of their execution and relieve employees of monotonous actions. This was reported to RB.RU by the company’s press service.

Yandex Market’s robotic arm with neural network will put everything in order in the warehouse

The developers have integrated a self-learning Yandex neural network into Roboruka. You are taught to compare any objects with each other, summarize information about them and apply this knowledge in practice.

For example, if a robohand can pick up a pen, it can also pick up a pencil or paintbrush that it has never handled before. This will help the robot to interact with objects new to it without the need for additional training, which in the future will allow it to perform many warehouse tasks at different stages.

Now Roboruka is being tested at the Super Warehouse: it picks up boxes of different sizes, shapes and weights from the conveyor and places them on appropriate pallets and, conversely, dismantles them.

The developers claim that the speed of assembling a pallet with the new device doubles on average. Thanks to this, the service will be able to quickly accept and process products from sellers in the warehouse, and buyers will receive orders faster.

In the future, it is planned to use Roboruk to sort products before packaging them: it will take, for example, a lipstick, a pair of jeans or a fountain pen and package them, then the boxes will be sent to customers.
