Microsoft announced on the night of March 20-21 that it would not block access to its products to individuals in the Russian Federation. However, a warning was sent to Russian companies about blocking access to some cloud products. Access to Microsoft cloud services will be blocked only for legal entities registered in Russia. Microsoft is considering the possibility of postponing the blocking date from March 20 to the end of the month.
The full list of Microsoft products subject to restrictions has not yet been published. However, the blocking is likely to affect all cloud services. Products that may be blocked include Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Azure, Office 365, SQL Server, and System Center. Free versions of Power BI Pro, Azure Devops, and education products may also be affected.
Softline Vice President Andrey Blagorazumov said that he received information about the possibility of postponing the blocking date to the end of the month. This became possible thanks to the active position of the company’s customers. The delay is expected to help companies take backups of their data and prepare to use alternative infrastructure.
