Rostelecom reported that the company is carrying out a large number of studies, “pilots” and R&D, and will not reveal details until they are complete and decisions are made.
The representative of the Russian Association of Trading Companies and Manufacturers of Electrical and Computer Equipment, Anton Guskov, considers Rostelecom’s plans to be “quite logical.” The organization estimates that the consumer segment of the laptop market in 2023 ranged between 3.4 million and 3.8 million units. The share of Russian brands did not exceed 10%.
At the same time, the development potential of domestic brands is much higher, given that in the last two years many foreign brands have officially left the Russian market and sanctions continue.
Sales of laptops and personal computers in monetary terms fell by 30% in the first quarter. Retailers explained the situation by the increase in supply from Russian and Chinese manufacturers, whose products are cheaper than those of their Western counterparts.
