The App Store and ecosystem apps are undergoing major changes in the European Union due to the DMA law. Against this background, The Wall Street Journal decided to share information about the head of the App Store, Phil Schiller.
Although Schiller has decided to take more time away from his work at Apple to make more time for family and friends, he still works 80 hours a week. The head of the App Store is responsible for all emails and phone calls personally, and also communicates directly with the EU phone. He even communicated with Tim Sweeney himself to resolve issues with Epic Games.
Whenever the topic of the App Store comes up in any decade, Tim Cook immediately turns to Phil Schiller. Schiller joined Apple in 1987, left in 1993, and returned in 1997 when Steve Jobs also returned to Apple. He stood alongside Apple’s launch products, developing marketing strategies for everything from the iPod to the Mac.
He was one of the key contributors to adding app components to the iPhone, working on the theme to convince Jobs to launch the App Store in 2008. It is Schiller who is considered a mini-Jobs in the company, since he adheres to the philosophy of the Apple founder more than anyone else.
