Online commerce, tourism and advertising have become the fastest growing business sectors by the end of 2023. This is clear from the results of a study by Calltouch, Tochka Bank and hh.ru.

The e-commerce health index rose to 55 points in 2023 compared to 30.5 points in 2022. 30% more entrepreneurs entered the market than a year before, which contributed to an increase in hiring, which grew 34%. The turnover of market agents increased by 41%.

The second fastest growing business was the advertising industry. The Health Index increased 21.8 points to 65.2 points and the turnover of advertising companies increased by 12%. Demand for organizational services increased 134% year-on-year, but hiring volumes in the field fell 24%.

“[…] The driving force behind the development of the industry was the rise of the implementation of neural networks in marketing processes. They increased the speed and quality of analyzes and improved the personalization of the offer,” said Calltouch commercial director Arthur Sarkisyan.

Third place in terms of growth rates is closed by the tourism industry. The index rose 14.2 points and the companies’ turnover increased by 22%. Domestic tourism has become the main driver of growth in the sector: the number of tourist trips in Russia at the end of 2023 increased by 17%.

“Places that until recently were not associated with travel and recreation have also become involved in the competition to attract tourists. In them, the tourist infrastructure is created practically from scratch, which requires the participation of professional personnel,” said Maria Ignatova, head of market research at hh.ru.

Despite the cumulative growth of Russian small and medium-sized businesses, some industries will have lost ground by 2022. The “health index” in the telecommunications sector decreased by 15 points, in medicine – 13 points, in culture – 10 points .
