Many Russian Internet users (23%) refuse to log in to online stores and Internet resources due to the lack of a convenient authorization method. This is stated in a study carried out by digital communication expert Edna.

Users also “abandon” sites when presented with complex password requirements (13%), while 40% of respondents often forget and reset such passwords.

“Logging in with a password is not always convenient, since you need to remember dozens of numbers for different services. This complicates the situation and creates an additional barrier in the customer journey,” said Alexander Dubrovin, business partner at edna.

After the ban on authorization, including through Google ID and Apple ID, introduced on December 1, 2023, companies began to introduce new authorization methods. 27% of respondents said they find it more convenient to log in using an SMS code, 23% prefer email, and one in five prefer biometrics.

The study was based on a survey of 1,890 people.
