The Higher School of Economics has launched a competition for AI artificial intelligence solutions for the preparation of diplomas, within the framework of which the use by students of tools based on generative models in the preparation of final qualification works will be evaluated . The HSE notes that a modern specialist must master artificial intelligence tools and be able to perform a wide range of tasks with the help of it.

Students in all bachelor’s and master’s programs at the university will be required to demonstrate their skills in using neural networks to solve complex problems. Authors of qualified articles will describe in detail which tools were used and for which specific tasks.
As noted in the Higher School of Economics, most students already actively use neural networks, which has become part of the educational process.
According to a recent online university survey, almost 43% of students already use AI in their work: 56% use it to prepare reports, 33% work on summaries, and 29% on essays.
“We can say that in the near future a modern specialist should be able to “count, read, write, draw” with the help of artificial intelligence; This is becoming part of professional skills. And this applies to all areas of education,” the HSE press service quotes Vice-Rector Sergei Roshchin.
The work within the framework of the competition will be evaluated by a commission of experts based on a series of criteria: the level of complexity of the tasks to be solved, ethics and feasibility of using artificial intelligence technology.
The three authors of the most successful works will receive scholarships and will also be able to participate in intensive courses on AI run by the university.
The first Russian university to approve the use of AI-based chatbots in the preparation of coursework and thesis was the Moscow City Pedagogical University (MSPU). In the summer of 2023, the academic council of the educational institution concluded that the use of artificial intelligence technologies helps develop students’ skills in analyzing and processing data.
Previously, RSUH student Alexander Zhadan used ChatGPT to write his thesis. The neural network prepared an article on control in just 23 hours and the student successfully defended it.
