After updating to iOS 17.5, users will have access to a system that includes Apple AirTag-branded geotags to identify even uncertified Bluetooth devices to track the user. Of course, we are talking about protection against all kinds of surveillance accessories.

New code elements have appeared in the Find My app, which is responsible for searching and detecting iPhones, AirTags and other Apple devices. Find My will monitor external activity and identify surveillance, allowing you to disable uncertified devices.

“This device is not certified on the Apple Find My network. You can disable it and prevent it from transmitting its location to its owner. To do this, follow the instructions provided on the product manufacturer’s website,” says a comment in the Find My beta code.

As noted, Apple recently worked with Google to develop “an industry specification to combat unwanted tracking.” At the same time, there is most likely no public or even closed beta available for users, so 9to5Mac believes that the new functionality will appear immediately in the stable version of iOS 17.5.
