On his X account, Corsi said he hopes to help top developers bring their projects to Nintendo.
Gio Corsi worked at Sony for just over six years. From 2013 to 2018, he headed the third-party games department, after which he moved to the role of global head of third-party games.
As GameRant clarifies, Corsi was involved in the localization and release of the Western versions of the Yakuza and Persona game franchises for PlayStation. The publication suggests that the new top manager will help Nintendo compete in the gaming range with PlayStation and Xbox.
In 2019, Gio Corsi announced his departure from Sony. From January 2020 to June 2022 he headed the editorial department of Illfonic, and from September 2022 to April 2024 he was head of the commercial department of Iron Galaxy Studios.
The manager actively supported the development of the PlayStation Vita portable console. The new position is expected to allow Corsi to expand its catalog of Nintendo Switch projects.
In February, multiple sources reported that the Switch 2 hybrid console would go on sale in the first quarter of 2025. The delay in release is reportedly due to Nintendo continuing to work on games that will be released simultaneously with the device.
