According to neuroscientist Dean Burnett, there is no actual data set or specific study confirming that the human brain does not develop until the age of 25. Maybe this idea caught on because 25 was such a nice number.
Also, just because the age of 25 is not the end point of brain development does not mean that the brain has not developed by then. Mostly our brain develops after this age.
It is very difficult to determine exactly when the development and maturation of the brain ends. This is because different parts of the human body grow at different rates. However, even if we focus primarily on examining the development of the frontal lobe of the brain, which is responsible for reasoning and thinking, it is important to understand that developing the brain is not like building a house. So we don’t have to wait for the foundation to be laid to start using any part of the brain.
The process of brain development is more like evolution. There were many evolutionary species, from primitive rodent-like creatures, the first mammals, to modern humans. But each of these types functioned successfully on its own. The same is true for the brain.
