Deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation sent an appeal to the government with a proposal to introduce the official sale of distinctive license plates in Russia. Izvestia writes about this with reference to the document.
According to the author of the initiative, moving the market for “nice” license plates to a legal auction field will eliminate the black market. Furthermore, the sale of such numbers could potentially replenish the federal budget by 35 billion rubles in the first year alone.
The idea of legalizing the sale of “nice” license plates first emerged in 2019. The Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Economic Development then sent the relevant amendments to the government, but they have not yet been adopted.
