A Reddit user discovered that an SSL certificate was created for the domain search.chatgpt.com in order to authenticate the website.
An attempt to open this address in a browser will return a page with a “Not Found” error, increasing the likelihood that this domain will be launched soon.
The idea of creating a search engine based on ChatGPT arose in an environment where Microsoft, one of OpenAI’s major investors, was unable to compete with Google Search with Bing.
The new system is expected to use AI to create quick summaries and deliver faster results, similar to Google’s Search Productive Experience, which puts AI summaries and answers at the heart of the search tool.
Details about the upcoming site have yet to be revealed, but Reddit users are already discussing possible features they’d like to see in the new ChatGPT search tool.
The proposals include the ability of artificial intelligence to evaluate the quality of information sources, as well as concerns about the new system’s ability to monetize through advertising and sponsored results.
