Last year I bought my iPhone 15 Pro with 256 GB for 150 thousand rubles. Today this smartphone can be found for at least thirty thousand, and it makes me a little sad.

After all, thirty thousand is just enough to get an excellent Android smartphone with powerful hardware.

However, the iPhone has one undeniable advantage: the camera. I was used to taking photographs with my firmware, knowing how the photos were taken, and I was sure that this was the standard for mobile photography, for which officially I wouldn’t mind paying money.

But then the same one fell into my hands Android for thirty thousand: Infinix NOTE 40 Pro with a 6.8-inch diagonal AMOLED screen with a frequency of 120 Hz, complete 70 W fast charging, and most importantly, a 108 MP socket. I was interested in comparing the photo capabilities of this device and his iPhone, so I went outside and started taking pictures.

Below you will see examples of photos taken on these two smartphones, one of which costs a lot of money, and the second is a representative of the mid-price segment. It would be interesting to compare what here? But don’t rush to conclusions. Better evaluate the quality of the photo yourself.

Short description

  • About the camera
    Backlight
    3x zoom
    Daylight
    Macro photography
    Night photography
    Video recording
    What’s the result?

First about the camera:

1. What did I use to photograph?

Both smartphones visually have three modules in the camera block, but in fact this is not entirely true. Let’s look:

👉 iPhone 15 Pro – main camera 48 MP

👉 Infinix NOTE 40 Pro – Main Camera 108 MP (Samsung sensor)

The other two “eyes” are from Infinix two megapixel and provides macro photography and artificial blur of the rear light (sensor on).

The iPhone has two other modules – a telephoto lens and an ultra-wide lens. Infinix did not bring such delights (remember the price of the smartphone), so we compared pictures taken on the main camera with default settings in different settings, including night time.

And you will be surprised how well you showed yourself…

But no, I won’t earn money in advance, let’s look together:

2. Backlight

Infinix NOTE 40 Pro: In bright sun, the direct lens did a good job highlighting the car in the foreground and the houses.

iPhone 15 Pro: Better rendered the color of the sky, but did not cope with significant backlight in the camera and then in buildings and objects.

I noticed when I was looking through and selecting photos for this material that in most cases, with backlight Infinix NOTE 40 Pro did not darken the objects in the picture, but tried to brighten them as much as possible.

This way, even if a bright light source was directly in front of the lens, the photo would be weather-neutral.

On the contrary, the iPhone almost always by default tries to tune in as much as possible to the light source, and then everything else around.

This can be avoided by tapping on some dark area on the screen before shooting, but in automatic mode the result will always be as in the example above.

3. 3x zoom

Infinix NOTE 40 Pro: You can see that the wall textures have turned into “soap”.

iPhone 15 Pro: increased sharpness and better conveyed the colors in the photo.

I’ll be honest, I love the window colors in the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro shot. This smartphone does not capture textures very well, but the overall mood of the picture is conveyed more accurately than an iPhone.

On the other hand, the photo from the iPhone 15 Pro has realistic colors and textures. But this is if you compare photos on a large screen, while on the screens of the smartphones themselves the photo from Infinix looks juicier.

4. Natural light

iPhone 15 Pro (left) vs Infinix NOTE 40 Pro (right). Here, Infinix more accurately conveyed the color of the wooden benches, although it blurred the texture of the asphalt. The iPhone again more accurately captured the color of the blue sky.

iPhone 15 Pro (left) vs Infinix NOTE 40 Pro (right). In this photo, Infinix decided to brighten all the objects, while the iPhone found the white balance.

iPhone 15 Pro (left) vs Infinix NOTE 40 Pro (right). The iPhone decided to “yellow” the high-rise as much as possible, while the Infinix “blued” it.

As can be seen from the example above, in automatic mode when turned on naturally, both smartphones make mistakes with white balance and color rendition.

For example, both gadgets couldn’t cope with a photograph of a high-rise building, each distorting the colors to its own taste. Here’s an iPhone for many thousands of money, me.

5. Macro photography

But the macro mode of the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro surprised me quite well. Just look at this flower – for a mid-price smartphone, the blur and texture of the petals is very good.

The iPhone blurred the backdrop worse, in my opinion, because it interferes with the subject. However, the texture of the soil and leaves in this photo is a definite favorite.

iPhone 15 Pro: The castle in the foreground is slightly out of focus, so the paint droplets on the sides don’t smear.

Infinix NOTE 40 Pro: I decided to focus not on the lock itself, but on its darling. Drops of paint sparkled, but the background was blurred more beautifully than an iPhone.

In this pair of photos you can see the same thing: the iPhone removed the lock better, but blurred the back in an uninteresting way. However, he focused specifically on the castle, unlike Infinix.

In turn, the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro blurred the platform in the background more beautifully. Well, the colors in this photo turned out more natural.

6. Night photography

Infinix NOTE 40 Pro: A very good example of night photography, there is depth and texture of the tree canopy, regardless of the unforgettable light from the flashlight.

iPhone 15 Pro: the photo turned out a little darker than the competitor’s, so the tree trunk turned out to be more expressive.

Infinix NOTE 40 Pro: The camera captured as much light as possible to show all the details. However, the walls of the covered parking lot on the left turned into “soap”, and the sky turned out to be very pixelated.

iPhone 15 Pro: The sky and parking lot wall texture are good, but the leaves on the right turn to mush.

In terms of night photographs, everything was quite inexpensive, although there were some pleasant surprises in terms of the quality and color of the photographs, and lanterns in the treetops. Let me remind you that the difference in price between these two smartphones is about 100 thousand rubles.

Yes, Infinix catches worse in narrower walls, but the overall scale of the review is pleasantly impressive, despite some noise and non-critical texture deficiencies in detail.

7. Video recording

Parity. Both smartphones shoot video with optical stabilization so that you can evaluate the smoothness of the picture (the video was shot while riding a unicycle, shaking is visible)

The optical stub decides that I did not see any critical images between the two smartphones.

Smooth images, color reproduction and height lift on both the Infinix Note 40 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro. Please note that the shooting was done in motion, however, the picture is smooth, without blur or other accessories.

8. What’s the result?

I start taking pictures and comparing pictures without the special strength of the 108 MP of the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro, but in the end I can say that I was wrong.

In automatic shooting mode, this smartphone easily covers the holder of the average user in terms of photographs, only in some moments being inferior to the iPhone in terms of noise and color rendition.

Yes, the iPhone 15 Pro has an ultra-wide lens, which the Infinix does not have. But the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro boasts an abundance of shooting modes, including one specifically for photographing the starry sky.

Plus, in this smartphone I need built-in templates for quickly creating mini-movies; when you just shoot short videos, the system automatically assembles them into an interesting montage.

It is clear that in 2024 it is not necessary to spend several average monthly salaries on the purchase of a smartphone with an Apple body, when in the assortment of Android devices you can find devices with decent cameras that will practically correspond to the top flagship from Apple.
