It is proposed to apply marks to goods at the stage between import and sale to a retailer. In the absence of an adequate sign, the sale of video games will not be allowed.

The association explained its initiative by the dissemination of gray imports of video games and accessories. Due to difficulties in paying online, they are imported into Russia without proper customs clearance, duties and VAT, and then sold on markets at a lower cost than legal distributors.

  • The “Honest Sign” product labeling system has been implemented in Russia since 2018 and the goal of the project is to combat counterfeiting. Labeling is now mandatory, among others, for medicines, cigarettes, mineral water, dairy products and many other categories.
