HE Artificial intelligence chatbot LuzIA has stopped working on WhatsApp due to high costs of maintaining the service on the Meta platform. Now the virtual assistant can only be accessed through the official website or the dedicated app available for Android and iOS.

LuzIA was launched in Brazil in July last year with the aim of offering easy access and natural language to all types of users. The service was integrated with WhatsApp and Telegram. LuzIA gained more than two million Brazilian users in less than two months thanks to its ease of use and useful features.

Currently, the AI chatbot offers many interesting features such as tips on a wide range of topics, legal advice, explanations on topics and news, weather bulletins, among others.

LuzIA stopped working on WhatsApp

Users who tried to use LuzIA via WhatsApp this week were surprised with the following message: “I am not currently on WhatsApp due to platform costs.” The assistant then informs the user that if they want to continue the conversation and benefit from its resources for free, they must download the special application.

The decision to leave WhatsApp may have resulted in a bad experience for many users who were used to LuzIA on WhatsApp. The good news is that the company has seen high growth in the usage of its LuzIA app for Android and iOS, reaching two million downloads in the last seven days. Additionally, the chatbot continues to operate normally on Telegram.

Before abandoning WhatsApp, the company tried unsuccessfully to persuade Meta to re-evaluate its pricing model for such services. It is worth remembering that Meta’s AI tool already works in 10 countries, with resources similar to LuzIA’s.
