By the end of the year, MTS will launch 300 4G and 5G basic instruments (BS) of its subsidiary Irtey in its network in 30 Russian regions.
They can replace Nokia equipment. Thus, 4G BS will be installed in the real network, and 5G – in test zones. To be allowed to operate Irteya equipment, it is necessary to pass tests, which will take about 3 months.
The tests are arranged according to a standard scenario: laboratory tests, then in open areas, then drive tests, i.e. e. terrain testing and performance testing, where the performance of a real-life standard network provider, such as Nokia, is taken into account over a small number of days. And then Nokia is dismantled, given to our base stations, and for another 10 days the characteristics are taken and comparable results are shown with the standard vendor. Of course, we are competing with a rather old Nokia, she is already old, she is 5-7 years old, but if we do this, it will be a huge challenge.
