The shares of the energy company Gazprom fell in price on the Moscow Stock Exchange to the level of February 24, 2022, when the start of the SVO in Ukraine was announced. This is evident in the commercial data.
According to current data at the time of this publication, Gazprom shares were trading at 136 rubles per share, which is a daily drop of 2.4%. Since the beginning of this week, the corporation’s shares have lost 14.1%.
Gazprom shares are falling in price due to the Russian government’s recommendations not to pay dividends based on 2023 results. The decision will have to be approved by Gazprom shareholders at an upcoming meeting.
Gazprom paid dividends periodically from 1998 to 2021. In 2022, dividends were paid only during the first half of the year, as the company worked the second half of the year at a loss.
