Although the hackers have yet to post anything from the hacked accounts, TikTok took immediate action to rectify the situation. A platform spokesperson said security measures were in place to prevent future attacks and restore access to affected accounts.
While CNN’s account was reportedly hacked last week, Tuesday’s wave of attacks points to a broader problem. TikTok, which is already under scrutiny in the US over security concerns, is not doing so well in the West.
Despite the popularity of the platform, used by a third of US adults, security concerns remain among authorities.
