ChatGPT developer OpenAI did not confirm media assumptions linking Sarah Friar’s appointment as CFO to plans to go public.

When the company announced a new top manager in the management structure, some media outlets, citing Friar’s experience, suggested that OpenAI planned to go public.
Previously, Sarah Friar ran the company Nextdoor (a social network for communication between neighbors) and was CFO of the payments platform Block Inc. (formerly Plaza). During her tenure, both companies went public.
The media wrote that Friar’s arrival at OpenAI could also mean that the technology company is preparing for an IPO. However, the developer denied these rumors.

In addition to the chief financial officer, the company also appointed a chief product officer. It was Kevin Vailya, who previously worked at Facebook*, Instagram* and Twitter (now X).
