Starting next month, the import of tobacco products into Russia will only be possible with special stamps, Vedomosti reported, referring to a Russian government decree.

The text of the document states that these restrictions also apply to EAEU member countries. Now the movement of tobacco products throughout Russia is allowed only if there is a special mark on the package.
It should be noted that in April, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law according to which the customs and tax administration must abandon special paper stamps. This is followed by a transition to digital-only labeling of excisable tobacco and nicotine-containing products.
To this end, the Tax Code was complemented with the term “special accounting and control mark” to mark such products. In fact, it is a unique QR code that is applied to the package.
Previously we wrote that an experiment was launched in the Russian Federation to label smartphones and laptops. It will last until August 31, 2025.
