Following increased media use of zero-day vulnerabilities in the open source community, OpenSSF identified the need for “more effective dissemination of information about security threats and incidents.” Siren thus serves as a platform for the dissemination of “consensus indicators” and hacking tactics, methods and procedures, encouraging “society-wide awareness and response.”

As the authors boast, in less than a month Siren had more than 800 members, including government agencies and security experts.

Interested parties can register on the dedicated OpenSSF page.
