The Association of Russian Electronics Developers and Manufacturers (ARPE) asked the new head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, for support on the issue of benefits and subsidies, following the refusal received from the previous leadership of the department. The association wants to expand tax incentives for contract manufacturers, review the terms of agreements on subsidized projects and support investments in semiconductor factories.
Electronics manufacturers have also called for scrapping plans to label electronics, citing the initiative’s high costs and increased risks within supply chains.
According to Ivan Pokrovsky, director of ARPE, the implementation of the labeling system will cost huge sums of rubles, which will negatively affect the future development of the industry. Particular attention should be paid to the sanctions risks that will arise for suppliers with disclosure of supply chains.
On June 10, 2024, an experiment to label smartphones and laptops began in the Russian Federation. It will last until August 31, 2025. Operator: Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT, state “Honest Sign” labeling system).
Since 2018, the “Honest Sign” product labeling system has been applied in Russia; The goal of the project is to combat counterfeiting. Labeling is now mandatory, among others, for medicines, cigarettes, mineral water, dairy products and many other categories.
