Similar to privacy technology used on airplanes, the fabric provides athletes with privacy by hiding normally visible body lines and underwear under a thin layer of clothing. The innovation comes after athletes complained about privacy violations in infrared photography during the 2020 Olympics.

The above image was taken in 2020, when it was revealed that the OnePlus 8 Pro was equipped with an undesirable “X-ray” filter that could see through very thin plastic and equally thin clothing. However, this is not a true x-ray, it is infrared.

The fabric was designed to strike a balance between maintaining privacy and keeping athletes comfortable in potentially scorching Parisian conditions.

According to experts, Japan is the pioneer of this technology.
