Against the backdrop of a global Windows failure, the Russian T-Bank (formerly Tinkoff) experienced difficulties with operations in applications for a small part of clients. Application users reported the failure on the evening of July 19. T-Bank RB.RU confirmed problems with work that lasted about half an hour.

“For 20-30 minutes, there may have been difficulties with operations in the application for a small part of customers, but now everything is working. Everything is working in full mode,” T-Bank told RB.RU, answering a question about possible problems for users due to a global Windows failure.

There was a massive Microsoft outage around the world. Television channels stopped broadcasting, airports and train stations were paralyzed, and problems affected the work of Visa, Amazon, and emergency services.

The chairman of the ROCIT commission on cloud technologies, hosting and information security, the general director of the Edge Center Mikhail Shurygin, explained why the ruling barely affected Russia. According to the expert, in March 2024 Microsoft announced the blocking of its cloud services in Russia, as a result of which domestic systems were developed.

“This gives the West a reason to rethink the level of Russian technology,” the expert said on the ROCIT Telegram channel.

RB.RU interviewed the largest companies in the Russian Federation about the problems caused by the Windows failure. On July 19, the services of Sberbank, VK and Wildberries were working normally. Ozon said that corporate systems are working in standard mode based on their own IT solutions. The global disruption did not affect Aeroflot flights, the company reported, airports are working normally and flights are running as planned, the Federal Air Transport Agency added.
