Dmitry Masyuk, head of Yandex’s search and advertising technology business group, says that Yandex’s voice assistant Alice’s technology does not allow it to eavesdrop on users. According to him, Alice devices are equipped with a microphone mute button, which physically blocks the ability to record sound. Masyuk assures that any rumors that “Alice” can listen in on conversations are not true.
Recently Yandex introduced an updated version of Alice, based on the Yandex GPT 3 neural network. Now the assistant explains complex problems better and offers a paid “Pro” option for advanced functionality. Since the launch of the new version, Alice’s monthly audience has reached 77.1 million users and processes 5.2 billion requests per month.
Alisa holds 78% of the Russian virtual assistant market, which makes it a leader in its field. The company is actively working to improve the functions of the voice assistant to make it more convenient for users.
