Initially, after a positive start, it lost ground against the yuan, but then recovered sharply and entered positive territory, reaching weekly highs.
“The Russian currency market is in equilibrium. It is ensured by a balance between the demand for and supply of currencies. So far, there are no factors that could disrupt this balance of power between buyers and sellers of currencies,” the expert says.
The Russian and Chinese currencies ended the trading week at the lower limit of the range of 11.9-12.1; this stability has been maintained since the beginning of the month. There is a possibility that due to the approaching tax period, with a peak on July 29, the yuan will test the strength of the support in the form of a two-week low of 11.88 rubles.
As for the European and American currencies, the exchange rate set by the Bank of Russia for the euro for the weekend is 96.04 rubles (minus 6 kopecks), the dollar has slightly risen to 88.02 rubles (plus 15 kopecks). At the same time, the depreciation of the ruble compared to Monday is quite noticeable; on July 15, the value was 95.76 and 87.74 rubles, respectively.
Babin also added that in recent weeks there have been signals from the Central Bank indicating a high probability of raising the key rate as early as July 26. But its growth may turn out to be lower than expected, or may not change at all if inflation remains at its current rate of deceleration.
