According to the report, nearly a third of the 400 professionals surveyed, including system administrators and developers, admitted that they were not familiar with secure development practices.

David A. Wheeler, director of open source supply chain security at the Linux Foundation, emphasized the grave consequences of vulnerabilities in software and the urgent need for comprehensive training for programmers.

The report highlights that most training programs prioritize functionality and efficiency over security, allowing many developers to rely on experience gained on the job, and that it can take at least five years to achieve basic security proficiency.
