Gigante das Buscas announced last Thursday (25) that videos saved to Google Drive can now receive automatic subtitles. The new feature is rolled out to all users of the service.
According to Google, automatic captions are enabled by default for all accounts. To enable them, the user must go to the video in question, click on the menu with three dots at the top, and go to the “Manage caption tracks” section. From this screen, you can add new tracks manually or Enable automatic transcription in the “Create automatic subtitles” section.
In addition to being a significant contribution to accessibility, the new Google Drive frees users from having to use editing programs to add subtitles to personal videos. The tool is powered by Google’s speech recognition technology for audio transcription.
Please take note of this automatic transcription process is not instantaneousAfter requesting subtitles, Google Drive takes some time to return the results.
Google states the following in the announcement of the new feature: function is only available in English for now, but there are plans to expand support for other languages in the future.
Unlike other Google additions, automatic transcription has been available to everyone since Thursday (25). Even spelling TecMundo you could already try it.
