In particular, high levels of PFAS were found in ultra-thin latex male condoms with Trojan lubricant and in water-based lubricants KY Jelly Classic, Lola Tingling Mint Pleasure Gel and several others.
RB.RU discovered Trojan products for sale on Russian markets, in particular on Wildberries and Ozon.
The skin on the genitals is very thin and the genitals have a large number of blood vessels, making them especially vulnerable to exposure to “forever chemicals,” Mamavation scientific adviser Linda Birnbaum said in a report.
PFAS are a class of about 15,000 chemicals often used to make products resistant to water, stains and heat. They are called “forever chemicals” because they do not break down naturally. They are thought to cause cancer, liver and thyroid problems and lead to decreased immunity.
PFAS are also considered reproductive toxins. They can have a negative effect on the endocrine system. These chemicals are likely used in condoms to help latex repel moisture and fluids, writes The Guardian.
