As of July 1, 2022, traffic police officers officially prohibited the use of portable radars to determine the speed of vehicles. The order was signed by the head of the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, and Irina Volk reported the official statement.

The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs officially banned the use of manual speed-fixing devices, as they provoked employees to various illegal actions.

At a press conference held on July 3, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that more than 23,000 automated traffic video recording systems have already been installed on Russian roads. This is a more legitimate fixing system than the complex manual ones that created the possibility of putting pressure on road users in the event of an offence.

The main infraction on the country’s highways is not respecting the speed limit within 20-40 kilometers per hour and driving with prohibition signs, but exceeding the stop line has become one of the most frequent infractions.

At the press conference, it was also announced that all traffic police vehicles have already installed automatic means of setting speed with processing in the data center. These systems automatically record violations for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians.
