The Ministry of Industry and Trade has proposed that a number of lubricants and special fluids for cars be labelled compulsorily in Russia from March 2025.

The draft government decree stipulates that registration in the information system for labeling of participants in the circulation of certain types of lubricants and special fluids for automobiles will begin on March 1, and in September, labeling and submission to the information system of information on the release of such products into circulation will become mandatory.
“It is important that labelling does not lead to price increases. In none of the 17 product groups has its contribution to production costs exceeded 1% over six years, as confirmed by both market participants and the Research and Development Institute of the Ministry of Finance,” says Varvara Mikhailova, head of the product group at the Centre for the Development of Advanced Technologies.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has announced that a voluntary experiment on labeling of such products is being conducted in Russia from July 1, 2024 to February 28, 2025. At the moment, manufacturers, importers and organizations of all types of trade are testing the labeling technology and interaction with the information system.
We previously wrote that from June 1, 2024, mandatory labeling of juices, nectars, fruit drinks and beverages made from plant materials was introduced in Russia. This stage was the third on the way to introducing changes for this group of products.
