According to the company’s specialists, the traffic of search queries to pirate portals decreased by 7.9%, the volume of the online piracy market during the reporting period also decreased by 9.5%, to $19 million. The majority of pirated resources are occupied by foreign films – 72%.
Russian services are fighting piracy within the framework of a memorandum signed by search engines and copyright holders, but the measures are not always effective: links to such resources are often distributed via Google and are not blocked.
Leading Analyst of the Digital Risk Protection Department of FAC.CT Evgeniy Egorov associates the decrease in the number of search queries on pirated sites with the fact that users have increasingly started using legal online cinemas.
- In the first half of the year, Russian online cinemas increased their revenue from subscriptions and advertising by 42% year-on-year. In the first six months, total revenue amounted to 52 billion rubles.
