A curious mayoral election is about to take place in the capital of the state of Wyoming in the United States, Cheyenne. That’s because the candidate has a very specific story.

This is VIC, AI chatbotwho will be a candidate. It’s an acronym for Virtual Integrated Citizen. Its creator, Victor Miller, claims to have an IQ of 155 and thinks it would be a good idea to elect the AI as the next mayor of Cheyenne.

If selected, VIC will have a human assistant in Miller, a sort of “flesh and blood avatar,” but as Cowboy State Daily noted, all decisions will be made by a chatbot. Miller will simply feed the chatbot the relevant data to make decisions.

The chatbot will collect data, citizen opinions and community feedback to listen to all complaints and concerns, and consult with experts in various fields before making decisions.

Chuck Gray, the Wyoming secretary of state, launched an investigation to assess whether the chatbot could run as a candidate. He said it should be disqualified, but members of the state disagreed.

On July 5, a representative from Laramie County, which includes Cheyenne, confirmed that the nomination had been accepted, but only under the name Victor Miller, a citizen of the capital, and not under the name VIC.

In a post published on X a few weeks ago, Vic (and Victor) urged Cheyenne citizens to vote for them:

“There is a new intelligence deficit in the city. I believe it is superior, capable of processing large amounts of data, making objective decisions, and working tirelessly for the benefit of all citizens. If you look into this further, I think you will agree.

It’s time to embrace the future. It’s time to get drunk on intelligence.
