Apple has announced new changes in iOS 18 for users in the European Union.
All users who have Safari as their default browser see a new screen asking them to choose a default browser. This will be used once per device.
The screen will display a list of browsers, along with brief information about each one. If the app is not installed on the iPhone, it will be automatically downloaded after being selected as the default.
iOS 18 introduces a new Defaults section where you can choose default apps for calls, messages, translation, navigation, password management, keyboards, and spam filters.
Additionally, users can uninstall the App Store and the default Messages, Photos, Camera, and Safari apps.
Most of these features will be available by the end of 2024. Default app selection for navigation and translation is planned for spring 2025. [Apple]
