The official publication of SB RAS “Science in Siberia” reported that the new technique involves applying a thin layer of silicon to the chrome film, which protects it from oxidation and improves the results of laser recording. This technology makes it possible to reduce the required laser power and increase the recording resolution, which leads to the creation of more precise structures.

According to Dmitry Belousov, one of the authors of the study, the use of chromium silicides in the new technology provides sustainability and efficiency, which promises to expand the production of optical elements and optimize their manufacturing.
