The device, developed on the basis of a clinical audiometer, includes additional functions that make it unique among analogues. It can study hearing thresholds, test the ear for music, and measure sensitivity to frequency changes. The press service noted that the development of the NSTU helps to timely detect hearing problems, even if the patient does not notice deterioration in the high-frequency region.

The device has five operating modes: manual for fine-tuning for each patient and automatic for determining hearing thresholds. The press service added that the built-in analyzer processes the test results and creates audiograms that help determine the type and degree of hearing loss for each ear.
