In August 2024, the number of viewers of esports broadcasts on the Okko platform increased by 10 times compared to the same month last year. The time spent by users to watch competitions increased by five times. This increase in interest is associated with the broadcast of leading ESL tournaments, high-quality broadcasting of events and ease of viewing on the OTT platform.
A particularly popular event was IEM Cologne 2024, which surpassed IEM Katowice 2024 by 1.4 times in viewership and twice in viewing time. According to ESL, the number of viewers for the CS2 tournament at IEM Cologne exceeded one million. Okko, which started showing esports in 2022, gives its users full access to world CS2 and DOTA 2 tournaments, with analysis and commentary from professionals.
Okko eSports President Kamal Gerikhanov noted that interest in eSports on the platform has increased 10-fold over the year. He added that Okko will continue to develop this area and provide new opportunities for eSports fans in Russia.
