An anonymous source shared with journalists of the newspaper Liberation some new facts that were revealed during the interrogation of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in Paris. In particular, it is about the fact that Durov, back in Dubai, met with representatives of the French General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI). He created an independent communication channel with the intelligence services “with a direct line and a special email address”, which helped prevent several terrorist attacks (according to the businessman).

Durov said he had communicated with French intelligence services in Dubai.

According to the newspaper Libération, during the interrogation Durov clarified that during a meeting, the dates of which were not disclosed, he told the French intelligence services that he considered it “inappropriate to reveal information that constitutes a military secret.” The publication’s source did not specify what information was being discussed.

Recall that Pavel Durov was detained on August 24 while disembarking from a private plane at the French airport of Le Bourget, arriving from Baku. A source from Liberation said that after his arrest, the businessman demonstrated full readiness to cooperate with the country’s law enforcement agencies, independently providing access to the smartphone.

Durov was charged with complicity in the purchase, transportation, storage, sale or transfer of drugs, storage and distribution of pornographic images of minors, fraud, use of cryptocurrency instruments, etc. (12 charges in total).
