The Seaglider ekranoplan combines the features of an airplane and a boat, which, according to the manufacturer, allows faster and more comfortable travel between coastal cities. The Regent Team is said to consist of experienced engineers who studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and worked at Boeing.
The Seaglider flies very low over the water and is considered a regulated vessel by the U.S. Coast Guard. Having received approval from a navigational safety risk assessment, Regent will now be able to test glider prototypes in select sea areas.
