During Gamescom 2024, HyperX updated its portfolio of products for content creators, including the introduction of the new HyperX QuadCast 2 and QuadCast 2 S. The microphones are set to replace the iconic models from the past generation with improvements in sound quality and a visual overhaul.
Peripherals that still use the condenser standard have capsules capable of capturing higher-quality audio. The QuadCast 2 works with 24-bit and frequencies up to 96kHz, a welcome update as the original recorded audio at a maximum of 48kHz.
On the other hand, the HyperX QuadCast 2 S is even more powerful. The manufacturer states that it has reached the maximum audio resolution level for a microphone for personal use, 32 bits and 192 kHz. However, HyperX did not disclose additional information about the technical characteristics of the built-in microphone module.
New design preserves the essence
The overall design of the HyperX QuadCast 2 and 2 S isn’t much different from its predecessors, but it does look sleek. HyperX made the peripheral more cylindrical and added a stronger dark paint job, which works well to contrast with the perforated area where it captures sound.
The microphone body has a rotary knob to change the polar pattern to four options: cardioid, omnidirectional, bidirectional, and stereo. On the back there is a USB Type-C port for data and power transfer, and a 3.5mm audio port for audio monitoring. The bottom area has 3/8 and 5/8 threads for attaching the peripheral to articulated arms or other mounts.
The microphone support protects the model from ambient vibrations and has height adjustment. As expected, the QuadCast 2 has red lighting, while the QuadCast 2 S has addressable RGB lighting.
The HyperX QuadCast 2 will be priced at $149 (approximately R$800 in direct conversion) on the international market, while the HyperX QuadCast 2 S will be priced at $199 (R$1,100). There are no details yet on the official launch in Brazil.
